I reached out for my purse in my car , which fell to the passenger floor. As I reached for it 3 times I finally reached it , but by stabbing myself with arm rest. I kinda felt the edge of the arm rest like under or at my ribs. I now believe i may be sore , but i don t think it is broken or could it be? this happened Monday and it has been sore since. Today, it hurts more than other days. Should I have it checked?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

You have suffered a blunt injury on your ribs which is causing pain. I would advise you to get a chest X-ray done just to rule out any fracture.

Meanwhile, apply ice to the area and take an over the counter painkiller like Advil to reduce pain and inflammation.

Avoid doing any strenuous activity till fracture is ruled out.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Nazma.amman, General & Family Physician
